The Puppy Package

Our puppy package is a comprehensive, 5-session grooming program designed to gradually introduce your puppy to the world of grooming. It's an ideal first step for puppies over 12 weeks old who have completed their vaccinations and have been given the all-clear by the vet.

This package allows them to become comfortable with grooming and build positive associations for a lifetime of stress-free salon visits. Over the course of five sessions, we will gently guide your puppy through each stage of the grooming process, allowing them to acclimate at their own pace.

What is the puppy package?

Woodlandrise's Puppy Package is a 5-Session Grooming Program

We understand that grooming can be a new and sometimes overwhelming experience for puppies, so our Puppy Pamper Package is designed to help them ease into the grooming process over five sessions, building their confidence and comfort along the way. Each session focuses on different aspects of grooming, ensuring a positive, stress-free experience for both you and your pup. By the end of the program, your puppy will be ready for their first full groom, including a professional restyle.

Here’s how the program is structured:

Session 1: Introduction to the Salon & Basic Grooming (12+ weeks)

This initial session is all about getting your puppy familiar with the grooming environment. We will gently introduce your pup to the salon, starting with basic procedures to ensure a positive, calm experience.

Salon Introduction: We will let your puppy explore the salon and get used to the smells, sounds, and sights of the grooming area.
Gentle Bathing & Drying: Your puppy will have their first bath, focusing on a relaxed, soothing experience to get them used to the sensation of water and the drying process.
Brushing: A light brushing to introduce them to the sensation of a brush on their coat, helping them get accustomed to it without feeling overwhelmed.
Nail Clipping: If your puppy is comfortable, we will gently trim their nails to start getting them used to the sound and feeling of clippers.

The goal of this session is to build trust, so we will take things slow and ensure your puppy feels at ease.

Session 2: Getting Used to Handling & Basic Coat Care (14+ weeks)

By the second session, we’ll continue with more exposure to grooming tools and procedures, reinforcing positive associations with each.

Brushing: We’ll use a variety of brushes suited to your puppy's coat type, helping them get used to different textures and sensations.
Ear Cleaning: Gentle cleaning of the puppy's ears, introducing them to this necessary part of grooming.
Light Nail Trimming: If your puppy is comfortable, we will do another light nail trim, ensuring they are accustomed to this grooming step.
Teeth Cleaning: Introduce basic dental care by lightly brushing your puppy’s teeth to help them get accustomed to the sensation of having their mouth touched.

This session focuses on establishing trust with tools that will be used regularly throughout their grooming life.

Session 3: Full Bathing & Drying Routine (16+ weeks)

By session three, we’ll focus on developing a full grooming routine, including the more detailed aspects of bathing and drying.

Full Bath & Drying: Your puppy will receive a full wash and dry, including shampoo and conditioner appropriate for their coat. This session will focus on getting your puppy used to being thoroughly rinsed, dried, and brushed during the bath.
Blow-Dry Familiarization: We’ll use the blow dryer to introduce your puppy to the sensation of drying without creating stress.
Light Grooming: Brushing and combing, focusing on gentle detangling (if necessary) to get your puppy comfortable with longer grooming sessions.
Ear & Nail Care: We will check and clean your puppy’s ears as needed and trim nails to ensure they’re growing in a healthy manner.

The goal of this session is to ensure your puppy is familiar with the entire bathing and drying process, so they feel comfortable during future full grooming appointments.

Session 4: Coat Maintenance & Advanced Grooming Tools (18+ weeks)

This session focuses on more advanced grooming tools and techniques, getting your puppy prepared for a restyle.

Coat Maintenance: We’ll perform a thorough brushing session, ensuring that your puppy is used to the sensation of being brushed for longer periods, especially in areas like the paws, belly, and behind the ears.
Trimming for Shape: This will be the first time we gently trim the coat around the ears, face, and paws, focusing on keeping the puppy’s coat manageable while introducing scissors or clippers.
Full Nail Trim: A more detailed nail trimming, if necessary, to ensure your puppy is comfortable with the process.
Ear Care & Teeth Cleaning: Reassessing ear cleanliness and continuing dental care to build routine.

At this stage, your puppy will begin to associate the grooming process with positive outcomes, making future grooming sessions much easier.

Session 5: Full Groom & First Restyle (22-24 weeks)

In this final session, your puppy will receive a full groom, which will include a full restyle of their coat and all the finishing touches. This is the session where we’ll give them their first professional haircut or clip, according to your preferred style and breed requirements.

Full Grooming Session: We will bathe, dry, and brush your puppy’s coat, addressing any tangles or mats.
Restyle: This is where we introduce the clipper or scissors for a professional restyle. Depending on your puppy’s breed, this could involve shaping the coat, trimming around the face, ears, and paws, or a full clip.
Ear, Nail, and Teeth Maintenance: We’ll finish with a nail trim, ear check, and teeth cleaning to ensure your puppy is fully groomed and looking great.

By this point, your puppy will be familiar with the grooming routine, and this session will feel like a natural progression in their grooming journey.
